Easy. Peasy. Three Strand Plait

Download Recipe

Three Strand Plait...

We know what you are going to say... the easiest one in the book! Well like anything, its only easy if you know how to do it so below you will find our easy step by step instructions on how to not only complete this plait, but also do a good job of it at the same time! You can of course download the step by step guide as well by clicking the "Download Recipe" button above!

Process
Follow these simple five stages to make your very own three strand plait. If you get stuck, use the pictures to help you check. You can scale your dough at any weight, however we think these look great in a smaller size, so scale our dough at 150g generally. This means that each strand is 50g each, which when added together makes 150g total for the bread.

Step 1
Roll out three pieces of dough to an equal length and arrange as per the picture opposite. Press the ends together at the top.

Step 2
Bring strand 3 over 2 and lay parallel to strand 1. Check that you dough looks like the image opposite before moving onto the next step.

Step 3
Bring strand 1 over strand 3 and lay parallel to strand 2. Again, check that your dough looks similar to the one opposite before moving on.

Step 4

Step 5
Continue in the same manner until all strands are completely braided and the press the ends together.

Congratulations on making your "Three Strand Plait" which hopefully looks something like the one in the picture above. These can be topped with seeds or simply egg washed. Don't forget to prove your dough before you bake it.
